About

Rhian is a compassionate virtual career coach, counselor, and post-secondary mental health consultant. With a Bachelor of Business specializing in Human Resources and a Master of Counselling Psychology, both earned with honors, Rhian is also a Certified Canadian Counsellor. She has spent nearly a decade dedicated to supporting clients in diverse roles, providing counseling online with warmth and understanding.

Her path to mental health care started when she was a College Director, where she found herself naturally supporting students facing anxiety, diagnoses, and domestic abuse. Driven by a deep desire to help, Rhian returned to school for her Master’s in Counselling Psychology while managing full-time work and raising three young children as a single mother. During the COVID pandemic, she created a mental health capacity-building program that reached 3,000 students in Alberta, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact.

Rhian’s dedication extended to working with non-profit mental health organizations, researching peer support models and the housing crisis. She provided counseling at Simon House, where she developed curriculums that align with Alberta Health Services (AHS), focusing on mental health recovery and self-discovery. Currently, she is creating new programs to support families, women recovering from sexual abuse, and community churches through Simon House.

Rhian is particularly skilled at helping individuals cope with challenging life transitions and stressful events, which can overwhelm the nervous system and trigger anxiety. Her trauma-informed approach blends strength-based methodology with solution-focused therapy, guiding clients through anxiety and life changes. As a divorce and breakup recovery expert, she has mentored many through separation, emphasizing a healthy transition before legal involvement.

With a wealth of experience in court navigation, addiction support, and community resource utilization, Rhian understands the complexities of issues such as car accidents, mental health struggles, addictions, divorce, emergency protection orders, family reunification, immigration challenges, bullying, and job loss.

Outside of her professional life, Rhian cherishes time with her loved ones, enjoys walking, self-care, and traveling, especially when the weather is nice. She loves planning fun events with her three teenagers, two of whom are inspired to pursue psychology in university, following their early positive experiences with the field.

Rhian believes in the importance of making preventative psychology enjoyable. Her holistic approach emphasizes self-care, including rest, relaxation, restoration, and expression. She advocates for complementary therapies like acupuncture, massage, physiotherapy, and chiropractic care to help relieve pain and foster recovery.
